Development Days

Development Day Closures

School Development Days are specified days on which teachers attend for planning, in-service training, curriculum development or staff development purposes.

Within 2007/08 school year, 4 dates must be determined by the Governing Body in Primary schools. In Secondary schools 5 dates must be determined by the Governing Body. The LA has set 1 School Development Day (3 September 2007).

Schools are responsible for informing parents of these dates and any queries should be referred to the relevant school.

Please note the following guidelines for sending in Applications for Development Day Closures:
  • Applications for Development Day Closures should be made for the full year where possible. However, applications should be received at least one month prior to the closure.
  • The support of the governors must be obtained before this application is submitted.
  • The school must notify the closure to those supplying milk, meals and transport.
  • A register of attendance must be kept and forwarded, together with an evaluation report to the Education Centre.
  • All applications should be sent to Kevin Apps at the Education Centre.
