Strategy for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs/Learning Difficulties and Disabilities 2008 – 2012The strategy for children with special educational needs/learning difficulties and disabilities (SEN/LDD) was consulted on between 28 May and 25 June 2008. It has been revised to incorporate points made during the consultation and was approved by Cabinet on 21 October 2008. Local Authorities are required to have a strategy for children and young people with special educational needs and/or learning difficulties and disabilities. The strategy sets out the vision for the next few years, how it will be achieved and what difference it will make for children. It has been informed by a comprehensive SEN review undertaken in 2007, by needs identified by stakeholders and now by public consultation. An SEN/LDD strategy and reference group will be set up to monitor and evaluate the impact of the strategy. The strategy can be found below. It consists of the strategy in prose, followed by 4 action plans – Strategic & Service Management; Provision; Communication, Partnership & Participation; Positive Outcomes for Children & Young People.
